Basketball Rules in Ridgefield

The Tigers are the home of Title Town.

Ridgefield High School has become just the third school since 1975 to own the FCIAC boys and girls basketball championships in the same year.

The girls won last Thursday over Staples at Trumbull. Tonight, the boys knocked off Trinity Catholic at Wilton.

Last week it was Kate Wagner and Katie Flynn and Cali Stietzel.

Tonight it was Johnny Briody and James Rush and Luke McGarrity.

Last week it was Cameron McLellan starting on the girls team. Tonight Andrew McLellan (her dad) coached his team to a third FCIAC championship.

It's a pretty cool culture they're building there. They also had a huge, excited student cheering section. Granted, Wilton High School is the next town up but they were still there tonight.

Credit to Trinity Catholic's fan base as well, and full respect to the Crusaders for a good game and a good crowd.

But Ridgefield basketball is top dog in the FCIAC.

Norwalk in 1981.

Trinity Catholic in 2008.

Ridgefield in 2020.

All hail the orange and black.

Back to hockey for one more on Saturday, as Brunswick hosts Loomis Chaffee. While I'd love to do state games, I'm often shut out of those for one reason or another. But everyday we keep working and building whatever we can. You never know where conversations can lead.

A quick note: at this moment, it's possible (and probable) we will not broadcast any girls hockey state games. There are some personal reasons involved and things could change. But, for the moment, I might drop out. I might reconsider.

I've already booked my first lacrosse game for next week and baseball isn't far behind.
